The New Squale Matic S: Slimmer, Sleeker, Still Ocean‑Ready

Squale unveiled the Matic S at Geneva Watch Days 2025, reimagining its classic Matic dive watch into a sleeker, more wearable daily timepiece. The design evolution starts with a reduced case diameter (from the original 44 mm to a balanced 37.8 mm), delivering both aesthetics and comfort.

Slimmer Profile, Enhanced Symmetry

Alongside the size reduction, the crown has been relocated to the 3 o’clock position, enhancing symmetry and giving the watch a more refined look. A slimmer double-domed sapphire crystal further refines its profile: just 12.6 mm thick, or approximately 13.2 mm with crystal, making it cuff-friendly while retaining its dive-ready presence.

The case is crafted from 316L stainless steel, featuring vertical brushing across the surfaces and polished bevels that catch the light beautifully. The light-blue sunray dial offers vibrant play with applied hour markers filled with Super‑Luminova for excellent visibility.

Orange accents on the inner rehaut, plus a bold arrow-style hour hand and straight baton minute hand, ensure legibility and a splash of sporty flair. The lollipop-style seconds hand tip in orange further enlivens the design.

The Squale Matic S doesn’t compromise on lume performance. The applied hour markers, as well as the bold arrow-style hour hand and baton-style minute hand, are generously filled with Super‑Luminova. In darkness, they emit a crisp green glow that ensures excellent visibility in underwater or nighttime environments.

Dive-Ready Engineering Meets Elegance

True to Squale’s heritage, the Matic S boasts a robust 600 m (60 ATM) water resistance rating, paired with a mono-directional bezel featuring an enameled steel insert.

Inside the refined case sits a reliable Sellita SW 200‑1 automatic movement, in Elaboré grade configuration for better precision. It operates at 4 Hz (28,800 A/h), features 26 jewels, and holds approximately 42 hours of power reserve, with date complication.

Squale offers two distinct strap options to suit varying styles:

• HydroLeather: Combines a white rubber base with blue water‑repellent leather inlays—blending elegance with functionality for underwater or formal wear.
• Mosaic Rubber: A light-blue, Tropic-style rubber strap adorned with a tactile mosaic texture—sportier and adventurous in spirit.

Price and Availability

At launch, the Mosaic Rubber variant carries a suggested price of approximately USD 1,450, while the more elaborate HydroLeather model is priced around USD 1,485. Both are available through Squale’s network of authorized retailers worldwide.
