Spinnaker has developed a clear specialty in making playful dive watches that combine serious water-ready specifications with designs that do not take themselves too seriously. Its latest limited edition brings that approach into the Peanuts universe, using the familiar Fleuss platform as the setting for one of the brand’s most character-driven releases yet.
The Spinnaker Fleuss 40 Peanuts Snoopy Seaside Snorkel Limited Edition arrives as a compact automatic diver with a distinctly summery personality, aimed at collectors who enjoy mechanical watches with humour, colour and a stronger visual identity than the typical tool watch.

The central idea works because Spinnaker has not treated Snoopy as a logo placed on an otherwise conventional watch.
Dressed in goggles, a snorkel and patterned swimming shorts, the Peanuts character occupies most of the dial. His arms form the hour and minute hands, turning the familiar animated-hand concept into part of a coherent seaside scene. The connection is stronger than it might initially appear: the Fleuss line takes its name from underwater breathing pioneer Henry Fleuss, making a snorkelling Snoopy a natural fit for the collection.

Smaller details carry the theme beyond the illustration. A paw print appears on the crown, another paw motif is worked into the bezel, and the rubber strap includes a Snoopy-shaped cutout. The watch also reveals hidden comic artwork under ultraviolet light. In these images you can see the UV treatment illuminating much of the dial, including Snoopy and the surrounding graphics, rather than limiting the effect to conventional hour markers.

UV-activated comic panels will attract much of the initial attention. They provide a second visual identity in sunlight and make sense within the summer theme, but they remain an occasional effect rather than an everyday function.
The more important question is whether the normal dial has enough personality without ultraviolet exposure. Here, the answer is yes. Snoopy’s handset, the snorkelling pose, the paw-print hardware and the shaped strap already create a complete design.
The character is part of the watch’s architecture, which separates this release from collaborations that rely on a small dial print and familiar packaging.
A 40 mm Case Prevents the Theme from Becoming Overwhelming
Spinnaker has built the collaboration around the smaller Fleuss format. The stainless steel case measures 40 mm across and 12 mm thick, dimensions that should make the colourful artwork easier to wear than it would be inside a larger, heavier dive-watch case.
The construction is more substantial than the playful design suggests. It includes a screw-down crown, an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and 15 ATM water resistance. The accompanying 20 mm rubber strap also makes sense for a watch presented around swimming, sunshine and seaside use.

An exhibition caseback reveals a customised rotor, giving the rear of the watch its own collaborative detail. This is decorative rather than mechanically significant, but it completes the package more successfully than a standard undecorated movement would.
Four versions will be offered. Shadowed Steel uses a black case and dial treatment, Cobalt Glimmer introduces blue tones, Breezy Cocoa combines a light-blue case with brown accents, and Obsidian Glow takes a darker black and bronze approach. Shadowed Steel, Cobalt Glimmer and Breezy Cocoa are limited to 750 pieces each. Obsidian Glow has the smallest production run at 550 pieces.

My preference is the latter. The darker palette gives the dial artwork room to remain playful without making the whole watch look like seasonal merchandise.
The Miyota 9039 Keeps the Dial Free from Compromise
Inside is the Miyota 9039, a no-date automatic movement from the Japanese manufacturer’s 9000-series family. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has 24 jewels and provides approximately 42 hours of running time. Miyota also lists hacking, hand-winding and an accuracy range of -10 to +30 seconds per day.
Its no-date construction is particularly useful here. A calendar aperture would interrupt Snoopy’s body or force the artwork away from the centre, while the 9039 allows the dial to remain visually complete.

The caliber is closely related to Miyota’s established 9015, sharing its 3.9 mm height, frequency, jewel count, power reserve and stated accuracy range. The principal difference is the omission of the date function.
This is a sensible movement choice, not a headline feature. Its thin profile helps Spinnaker keep the watch at 12 mm, while its widespread use in independent watches gives it a more established track record than an obscure caliber selected only to lower the price.

Specs, Pricing & Availability
The Fleuss 40 Snoopy measures 40 mm across and 12 mm thick, with a stainless steel case, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, screw-down crown and 15 ATM water resistance. It runs on the Miyota 9039 automatic movement and comes on a 20 mm rubber strap. Pricing is set at $450, with availability beginning July 24, 2026. Shadowed Steel, Cobalt Glimmer and Breezy Cocoa are limited to 750 pieces each, while Obsidian Glow is limited to 550.

Case Diameter: 40 mm
Case Thickness: 12 mm
Case Material: Stainless steel
Water Resistance: 15 ATM
Caliber: Miyota 9039 automatic
Crystal: Anti-reflective sapphire crystal
Function: Three-hand time display with UV-activated dial artwork
Personally, I would choose Obsidian Glow. Its darker treatment should remain easier to rotate alongside more conventional watches, and the smaller production run adds a modest point of distinction without becoming the reason to buy it.
Spinnaker has made a character watch that can actually accompany the activity illustrated on its dial. The sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, compact case and 150-metre rating give the concept practical substance. I would recommend it to an existing collector who already owns a straightforward everyday diver and wants something more expressive. A first-time automatic buyer should spend the same money on a simpler watch with clearer hands and wider long-term versatility.
