Baltic Aquascaphe MK2: A New Era of Neo‑Retro Diving Excellence

Baltic has officially launched the Aquascaphe MK2, a refined refresh of its popular dive watch that combines vintage charm with modern upgrades. After seven years in production, this is not just a facelift, it’s a substantive evolution. In this article, we dive deep into what’s new, what stays great, and why the MK2 might just be Baltic’s best value proposition yet.

What’s New in the Aquascaphe MK2

Two case sizes: The MK2 is now offered in 37 mm or 39.5 mm diameter options. Lug‑to‑lug spans are approximately 45 mm for the smaller and 47 mm for the larger case.

Case refinements: New sharper angles, more distinct finishing on the lugs (vertical brushing on top, satin/horizontal on the sides), and the addition of crown guards. Drilled lugs are retained, reinforcing its tool‑watch DNA.

Enhanced legibility: The dial features larger applied 3D indices filled with Super‑LumiNova BGW9, no more partial sandwich dials (as in earlier models), bolder hands, a full printed minute track, and improved bezel markings.

Crystal & bezel upgrades: A double‑domed sapphire crystal with internal anti‑reflective coating, paired with a 120‑click unidirectional bezel with a sapphire insert. The bezel now shows more detailed minute‑by‑minute graduations.

Despite all the visual upgrades, the MK2 keeps what already worked well. The heart of the watch is still the Miyota 9039, a reliable automatic movement known for its slimness, hacking seconds, and 42-hour power reserve. Baltic’s decision to continue with a no-date layout ensures a clean, symmetrical dial—something many collectors specifically look for.

The water resistance remains rated at 200 meters (20 ATM), perfectly capable for recreational diving, swimming, or everyday adventures. It’s a spec that strikes a sweet balance—serious enough for enthusiasts, yet not overbuilt for daily wear.

Baltic also introduces an upgraded Rubber Classic strap crafted from FKM vulcanized rubber, now featuring a saffiano leather-like texture that elevates both form and function. This design enhancement offers a refined feel while retaining excellent durability. For those leaning toward steel, the MK2 is also available with a classic beads-of-rice or flat-link bracelet, each fitted with quick-release spring bars for tool-free versatility.

The MK2 launches in four colourways:

      • Glossy Blue
      • Glossy Green
      • Grained Warm Silver
      • Grained Gray

Most colour variants have a bezel insert that matches the dial, except for the Warm Silver model which uses a contrasting black bezel.
